Solar Over-Glasses – The Big Guide

With suitable sun overglasses, you can continue to wear your regular prescription glasses on sunny days. Which overglasses are suitable depends primarily on the overall width, height, and shape of your existing frame. The temple length alone is not enough.

How do I measure my glasses correctly?

  1. Measure the overall front width of your prescription glasses at their widest point, including the frame.
  2. Measure the maximum height of the frame, not just the lens height.
  3. Compare both measurements with the maximum prescription glasses dimensions of the respective overglasses model.
  4. Check the actual fit: The overglasses must not shift your prescription glasses and should neither press on your temples nor rub against the lenses.

The stated maximum dimensions are a selection aid, not a guarantee of fit. Frame shape, temples, and nose fit affect whether both pairs of glasses sit comfortably together.

Select CoverMe models based on your glasses dimensions

These examples help with size comparison. Do not decide based on color or model number alone. For glasses close to the maximum dimensions, we especially recommend a personal fitting.

Which lenses are right for my everyday life?

Choose the tint, filter category, and UV protection based on the specifications for the particular version. A dark lens color alone does not prove UV protection. Whether a version is polarized must also be explicitly stated.

Polarized lenses can reduce distracting reflections during the day. However, when using them in the car, check the readability of your displays. For choosing glasses for driving, read our CoverMe buying guide for drivers.

Do overglasses also work with progressive lenses?

Overglasses are worn over the existing prescription glasses and do not change their individual lens prescription. The important thing is that they do not shift the prescription glasses and that your usual fields of vision remain usable. Check this during the fitting.
